CJ Valley is a 22 year old woman, a main protagonist in the fanfiction Pills 'n Needles, the girlfriend(and
eventually fiance) of Ezekiel Lindberg. She is also Simon's neighbor in the mentioned fanfiction.
Simon broods in his sorrow and his anxiety riddled mind, his mind playing back to one of the few times he spent with CJ
when he took her home, confirming Ezekiel often has had CJ go out to shop, even at night despite the possible danger,
especially since at the time a serial killer was on the loose and possibly lived in one of the many houses close by
where children were, showing how little Ezekiel cared for her safety that he cared for his cigarettes and booze more than
her. CJ and Simon find a bench to rest on to collect their thoughts.
The duo talk about their dreams, her being a veterinarian but explains Ezekiel doesn't want her to "smell
like the zoo", striking displeasure into Simon of how CJ's being treated. CJ takes out a bottle of pills to
take some. Simon warns her they're dangerous to take to earn a retort out of the ex-straight A student
about his morphine. He lifts his sleeve to reveal a fresh new needle mark(newer than the others), which
was unusual for him unless he was high(which he was). They both relax into there high only to realize
they were kissing and pull away before making their way to the house where she resides in, Ezekiel's
house. Simon mentally beats himself for kissing CJ.
Ezekiel roughly snatches CJ by her blonde hair, scaring her. He tells her to "stay away from that crippled fucker",
referring to Simon and accuses her of cheating on him. There are clear signs he's been drinking whether it be his breath
or his casual clothes. Ezekiel accuses CJ of cheating on him.
Later into the story, CJ finds out through Agnes Sterling that her birth control had been tampered with, leading to her
pregnancy when she goes to Simon's house to meet Agnes Sterling for the first time. CJ goes to the house she resides in
to confront Ezekiel to see another woman wrapped around his arms. He convinces CJ during dinner that Laura is helping him
get over his addictions.
Throughout the situation, CJ struggles with her withdrawls while Ezekiel takes advantage of it to gain sympathy from
anyone who asks about her.
Later into the fanfic series, CJ comes to her senses after seeing
In Pills 'n Needles, CJ spent most of her childhood going to an unnamed all girls school for the sake
of being kept a virgin. She's was a Straight-A student that wanted her parents' approval. Her mother has
often styled her hair in ways that covered her widow's peak; be it bangs or otherwise. It's implied she
started her drug habit at a young age from taking pills intended to treat her anxiety despite not having
a severe case as her psycologist stated. Her parents got her on some medications anyway from a "legally
questionalble source". Her habit slowly developed into her teen years. She was said to have become friends
with Anna back in highschool. CJ had become was told never to become a veternarian because no man wants a
woman who "smells like a farm" and they demanded she'd be a lawyer instead, her protests went ignored.
She still held onto the dream of being a vet despite being given little access to the required education.
In university, she was shocked by the environment of the college due to boys and girls being in the hallways.
She was more shocked when she found out Simon would be her dormmate. She pleaded to the Principal about switching
to a dorm room with a girl, but was told it wasn't an option. She sucks it up and takes advantage of the fact she
have to tell her parents about her dormmate. Not long after she became aquainted with Simon, her parents looked
through the University's system to find out who CJ is dormmates with. She begged her parents to stay at the university
and they agreed to fund her education on the condition her grades don't slip. Unfortunately, she came across Ezekiel
and became infatuated with him. After a drug filled talk involving whether Sophie will one day forgive her and Simon
sulking about his crush, both CJ and Simon get high(after she begs him to spare some pills for her after getting
robbed of her prescription by Anna) and talk about what she plans to do after college. She tells Simon she plans to
move away from her parents and pursue her dream of being a veternarian.
CJ's grades began to slip after the years of the drug abuse. The news got back to her parents and they
switched her to another school. Hearing this, she never came home. Ezekiel had taken her in hearing about her situation.
He entertained her with 'corny' jokes using fish herring and peaking her interests working on a car in front of her,
allowing her to feel his body. She fell in love with him almost immediately.
He pays little mind to CJ's dislke for the smell of tobacco and does it anyway(even when she was pregnant). Despite Ezekiel's agression and manipulation tactics, CJ loves him deep down, but she's also afraid of him. Time
passes and CJ appears to have built the courage to leave him only for him to make a promise he's quitting his usual
habits and plans to become a better man for her. It hardly lasts long as he's later shown he never quit drinking or
smoking.
They first met in college in their dorm they shared. He didn't talk to her much and would brush off anything she asked
(at least regarding his self-harm and drug habits). They more or less warmed up to the idea of being doormmates despite
her discomfort. Things were rough between the two after the situation between them due to CJ not stepping in when Anna
bullied Sophie. Months pass and Simon notices CJ had changed her hair from brunette to dyed blonde. She brushes Simon's
concern and ignoring Ezekiel's early red flags.
They don't interact much in the fanfics, though they're very neutral.
When CJ first met Laura, she grew jealous, but somehow she'd become slightly confident over her. This is shown when
Laura calls her a homewrecker, CJ couldn't help but feel amused at the irony, making Laura more angry.
